Come see Duke Tumatoe in concert at the Tivoli! Duke performed at the Theatre in 2013 and now he's back for another round!

Chicago-born Duke Tumatoe is a musician/showman who has retained a firm career by fusing gritty R&B, rock, blues, and funk injected with equal parts humor and gut-level sincerity.

Tumatoe was a founding member of what would become REO Speedwagon. His tenure with that band was short-lived, leaving in 1969 and forming Duke Tumatoe & the All-Star Frogs. He spent 13 years with the All-Star Frogs, producing only two albums due to their grueling schedule.  In 1982, Duke created the Power Trio and has been performing with them since.

Throughout his illustrious career, Tumatoe has opened for several legendary figures in blues and rock, including Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, George Thorogood, Fabulous Thunderbirds, and John Fogerty. Fogerty was so taken with Tumatoe's performance, he produced the critically acclaimed 1988 live album I Like My Job! on Warner Bros. Since Tumatoe has put out six more albums.

Truvy Jones runs a successful beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies in the neighborhood have a standing Saturday appointment. Along with her anxious and eager assistant, Annelle, Truvy styles the hair of many of the women about town: wealthy widow and former first lady of Chinquapin, Clairee, local curmudgeon Ouiser, intelligent and compassionate career woman M’Lynn, and her daughter Shelby, the prettiest girl in town. Shelby’s engagement is the talk of the town, but the joy and excitement of her wedding quickly turn to concern as she faces a risky pregnancy and a myriad of health complications. As the women of Chinquapin makes their ways over life’s many hurdles together, they find comfort (and a fair amount of verbal ribbing) in one another. “You have no idea how wonderful you are,” M’Lynn tells the ladies at the end of the play. Truvy responds, with a smile, “Of course we do.”  This is a play that will have you laughing and crying at the same time! (PG-13, 165 min.)

It's four days before Christmas and the Tiny Town of Tinsel, Texas, and a colorful parade of eccentric guests arrive at the snowflake in and deck the halls with holiday hilarity.  Trina, the harried yet upbeat Innkeeper of this B&B, has more than she can handle coping with these nuttier than a fruitcake lodgers. Hoyt and his brother, Donnie Jo, make the mistake of trying to end a 30-year feud between their curmudgeonly aunts, Ennis and Della, with side-splitting results. Ainsley and Lenora, self-involved actors from a lower than low budget touring production of A Christmas Carol, this end on the end to fulfill a promise, leaving comedic chaos in their wake. Add to this Yuletide Mayhem and ill-advised romantic Rendezvous between Mrs. Claus and one of Santa's elves, a demanding guest who refuses to leave, not to mention that tipsy housekeeper, and it's clear it will take more than a kiss under the mistletoe to keep Trina's Spirits Merry and bright. But a spur-of-the-moment Christmas Eve wedding that brings together the fabulous Futrelle sisters - Honey Raye, Twink, Frankie and Rhonda Lynn - and their best friend, Raynerd, takes a surprising and delightful turn that leads to a laugh till your sides a climax, changing all their lives forever. You'll swear this family friendly Jones / Hope/ Wooten Christmas comedy is more than a joyride in a one-horse open sleigh. (PG-13, 120 min including intermission)
